Keeping Women’s Rights in the Picture
Saturday, January 17, 2026

Please join us at the Leica Gallery Boston for an immersive, participatory event celebrating women and the ongoing evolution of representation.

This gathering builds upon an inaugural live podcast conversation featuring Concept Aware® creator and host J. Sybylla Smith in dialogue with A Yellow Rose Project founders Meg Griffiths and Frances Jakubek, alongside AYRP artists Kathya Maria Landeros and Jordanna Kalman. Together, they explore themes of visibility, agency, and creative response in the context of the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.*

Community members are invited to participate in the spirit of A Yellow Rose Project by creating an original photographic image as a response, reflection, or reaction to this historical milestone and its contemporary relevance.

Based on availability and interest, participants may borrow Q or SL Cameras from the Leica Store Boston to produce their work. Regardless of the camera or tools used, Leica Boston staff will be available to offer technical guidance and artistic support.

Completed images should be submitted via the Wufoo form linked here. All submitted works will be shared during a communal gathering at the Leica Gallery Boston on March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day. At this final event, participants will have the opportunity to briefly speak about their work, engage in conversation, and experience the collective responses of the community.

Leica Camera USA, A Yellow Rose Project, and Concept Aware® share a mission to amplify narratives that expand the breadth and depth of visual storytelling.

*A Yellow Rose Project invited over one hundred women across the United States to come together in photographic collaboration. These photographers were asked to make work in response, reflection, or reaction to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. From inception, the goal of this project was to provide a focal point and platform for image makers to share contemporary viewpoints as we approach the centennial of this event, to gain a deeper understanding of American history and culture, to build a bridge from the past to the present and future.
